Windows Security Updates not Supported by IntervalZero Products
As most of you are aware, Microsoft has issued a security update to fix the Meltdown-Spectre vulnerability found on Intel and other processors. This Windows security update helps to mitigate the security hole by enabling the Process-Context Identifiers (PCID) feature on processors. If this feature is supported by your hardware the Windows update will cause IntervalZero products to no longer work correctly and will cause a WINDOWS STOP on the startup of the Real-time Subsystem.
On 1/25/2018 IntervalZero has provided an Update 1 to RTX64 3.3, available from the Customer Center, and is working on an update to RTX 2016. We are aware that a number of customers with older unsupported RTX versions are affected by this issue as well. We are investigating what measures we can take to help customers deployed on RTX 2011 and RTX 2009.
Until an update is made available, please disable or postpone Windows Updates on your deployed systems. If the update has already been installed it will need to be uninstalled if you wish to continue using IntervalZero products before a fix is made available. For detailed information on how to disable or postpone updates, see the TechNote Windows Meltdown-Spectre Patch Updates Crash the RTX64 Subsystem.
